Restaurants
If you’re looking for a bite to eat around the Presidio, we recommend the following:
As Quoted is a cafe on Sacramento Street serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a casual atmosphere. All ingredients are local, organic, and animal proteins are pastured.
Presidio Twilight-Off the Grid takes place on Thursday evenings on the Presidio’s main post and is a collection of food trucks, music, and views of the bay that will put you at ease.
Presidio Social Club is in a historic building that used to serve as a social club for military personnel and their families. They serve casual California cuisine and are known for their cocktails.
Arguello is inside the Presidio Officer’s Club one of the oldest buildings in San Francisco that has served many purposes over the years. They serve Mexican cuisine and have a lovely indoor space or a patio with fireplaces if you want to eat outside.
The Commissary sits on the Main Post and offers Spanish cuisine by award winning chef Traci Des Jardins.
Other restaurants near and not so near the Presidio that we think are worth mentioning:
The Progress, Ovtavia, A16, Delfina Pizzeria, Fish, Pearl, Che Fico, The Farmer’s Market at the Ferry Building on Saturday morning has many food purveyors, all good!

HIKES, walking & other tours
Hiking is our favorite activity and here are a few trails in San Francisco we recommend: Batteries to Bluffs, Lands End, The Ecology Trail, Andy Goldsworthy’s Wood Line, San Francisco Botanical Garden, and Crissy Field.
San Francisco is famous for it’s steep streets and eclectic neighborhoods. Here are a few walking tours that will take you through historic neighborhoods.
Dandelion Chocolate Factory: We took a chocolate class and a tour early in our courtship and still find ourselves touring the tasting shelves from time to time. Click here for their tour schedule.
Heath Ceramics are an iconic part of Bay area arts and crafts. Visit the original factory and store in Sausalito or the newer factory and store in San Francisco with a Tartine bakery attached. Both locations offer tours. Click here for their tour schedule.
